Green Street Blues

GSB singing at Ightham Mote, Sunday 2nd December

We have been having a marvellous time learning some new Christmas songs and rehearsing some of our old favourite Carols to entertain visitors coming to the National Trust at Ightham Mote on Sunday 2nd December.  Performing with us will be a number of ‘Associate GSBers’ who are ladies who Love To Sing and have been learning how we do our A Cappella thing throughout November.  Ightham Mote is opening this weekend unveiling the house dressed for Christmas and hosting a Yuletide mini- market. There will be local producer stalls with Christmas gifts and Father Christmas is visiting from 11am – 2.30pm handing out gifts to children. There will also be craft activities and festive music provided by GSB from 12.00- 1.00pm.

Meryl, Anne, Glynis and Julie aka GSB quartet, 'Work In Progress' recently awarded Honours at the Beckenham Festival for their 'LOVE' programme combining, Mr Sandman, It Had To Be You, and When You Say Nothing At All. Glynis reports that the Adjudicator was impressed with their theme link and talented singing of different styles of music. Well done WIP!

Green Street Blues are a welcoming ladies a cappella choir rehearsing in Sevenoaks, Kent. The lovely 4-part harmony we create comes just from our voices. Our chorus repertoire is wide ranging; modern, show-tunes and pop. The chorus regularly sing in local and national festivals and competitions and also public performances for charity or fundraisers and always because we are girls who enjoy singing together.

We sing under the direction of Rosalind Kipps and in 2017 were ranked 6th nationally and placed top of the medium sized choruses at the prestigious national competition held by LABBS (Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers). At the same time Ros was awarded the trophy for Young Barbershopper of the Year – we are fortunate to have such a talented young MD!

Anybody is welcome to come and listen into a rehearsal to get a flavour of what goes on behind-the-scenes to produce the unique and mesmerising sound of close harmony singing, so why not join us for a rehearsal evening? We rehearse every Tuesday night from 7.45pm – 10.30pm at The Drive Methodist Church TN13 3AE just email us to let us know to expect you.
