New Chorus Music Director

We are proud to announce our search for a new Music Director is now over and we have appointed Rosalind Kipps as the new Music Director for Green Street Blues with immediate effect.

RosphotoResizedRos has enjoyed a wide range of musical experiences over the years including performances in the BBC Proms and international concert tours with a youth choir and ensembles at University but it wasn’t until 2011 that she discovered the joys of barbershop singing. Ros has packed a great deal of barbershop and directing in since then and is a regular quartet and chorus competitor. She is presently Assistant Music Director and Bass Section Leader at our near neighbours – the Sweet Adeline chorus – Viva Acappella.

Ros has become, in her own words, “quite a barbershop geek”, attending as many national events as she can (be they BABS, LABBS or Sweet Ads) and soaking up directors’ training from both sides of the UK barbershop tradition. She has been keen to take on more directing responsibility for some time and a former GSB MD pointed her in our direction! Ros made a great connection with the girls during the auditioning process. Her energy and sunny personality bubbled over the surface – her talent and musicality, understanding of harmony and the technical skills that support this great a cappella sound were the deep pools below. We can’t wait to start rehearsing together.

Ros comments, “I’m delighted to be joining GSB and to be leading this historically successful group into its next chapter. Learning from this chorus’ rich history is the perfect opportunity for me as a young director and I look forward to our growing together over the coming years – can’t wait to get stuck in!”

Ros steps into the role at GSB following an 8 month search process led by GSB’s Management Committee and Music Team during which time the chorus have been ably led by Assistant Director, Anne Beasley, supported by other members of the Music Team.
